Click hereThis poem is written as a Pantoum, which means that it repeats lines in a certain way; considering the cyclical and repetitive nature of the relationship I'm writing about, I find it particularly appropriate.
**************************************
it is morn and the dawn is red,
darkness flows away with the night
a couple lies awake in their bed
not quite ready to take their flight.
darkness flows away with the night
leaving secrets stark in the light of day,
they're still not ready to take their flight
though they know they cannot stay.
secrets stark in the light of day
cruel words no love could endure
and they know they cannot stay
if only to keep their memories pure.
cruel words no love could endure
and so they know they must now part
if only to keep their memories pure
and stop tormenting their broken hearts.
and so they know they must now part
as they hold each other awake in their bed
they must stop tormenting their broken hearts
it's already morn and the dawn is red.
