Unforgiveable error

Never call a Marine an ex-Marine. It is always former Marine. Once a Marine always a Marine. Outside of that it was a good story.

Great, now Brady is stuck with a selfish, self centered witch who thinks primarily of herself.

And then abuses those who don't measure up to her standards.

Rushed

Not bad, but rushed. Also, I have to say these two have communication issues. If she can't forgive him *one* missed Valentine's day, or ask *why* he missed her birthday (which he also made up for), then yeah, I don't see what he's getting out of it or why he'd want her.

Well,

not bad but you went a "little" over the top with the stereotypes.

Sweet story

It was an entertaining read!

Thanks for writing!

Another great story.

I always love your romance stories. I don't know why everyone is so hard on Audrey. He was late for many occasions. He should have told her what his job really involved after the first time he was late. These two just need to communicate better.

Again, great story!

Cute

Aren't most young people self-centered? I have found that to be the case. It takes time and a lot of life experience for most of us to realize that the world doesn't revolve around us. Some never understand or agree that the giving of ones-self and tolerating the actions of others is what makes us better persons... The Author showed us that most everyone loves a self-sacrificing hero. The young lady finally gains the wisdom needed to appreciate what she has in her man in the end. Great little tale. The hero could have been a meek little average guy that just helped someone in need...risking his own life or world. If only more of us weren't so cynical about people. There are lots of hero types out there. Unfortunately there are takers, cynics and users as well.

Communication issues?

Yeah, that's the point right? If they didn't have communication issues there would be no story.

Extreme, probably. But it works.

Thanks!

Another well put together story -

Real people in a potentially real situations -

Nicely done - and I agree the message was well delivered - to place too much emphasis on the little things can cost you the big ones -

Of course he does need to get his head straight and communicate a bit better - like let her know what he does - let her know the shit hit the fan while he drives to the scene etc. (even if it is just leaving a message to show he tried) share the learning with both parties lol

No, actually sophomoric

Most of Web_Spinner tales are well written. But this one is not one of them. Guy seems to spend a good part of his time crying like a wimp. Sorry, don't cut it.

Lack Of Communication!

This couple definitely suffer from a lack of communication. Didn't he ever explain why he forgot or missed her events or didn't she listen? I don't recall how long they were dating or together but apparently they didn't talk very much. She really didn't know what his work entailed even after he missed Valentine's Day and her birthday. I really think that this couple is going to be in trouble unless they start talking to each other about important things. I still enjoyed the story and thank you for your writings.

Wonderful!

This is a wonderful story about love being more important than forgetting significant dates! However, as a matter of better behavior, he really should have at least called her on his cell phone. Also, without the other woman mentioning losing her love in death, I doubt he would have been so easily forgiven and accepted back into her life.

So fellow men, don't forget her birthdays or anniversaries!!! It can all too easily be interpreted as you don't really care enough to make the effort to remember...

A but disappointing

You know, i know bard is really busy cant he make time for his gf. They are still dating but he already forgets dates, what more if they are married. Then audrey would ve in for so much disappointment

Fine Story

It was vest plated bút hit the spot!

anonymousinblueanonymousinbluealmost 6 years ago

The story has only one truly good line, and it was delivered by the woman whose husband was liked in Iraq. When a single line or concept stands out so prominently, I tend to think the story is written around that, and if an average reader can see that, it is done just a bit too forwardly. That's the issue I have with this story. The ending was good though, simulating the experience Iraq woman mentioned.

She may have turned out to be a loser were it not for that sequence of events, the idea followed by the trauma, probably changing her for the better in a long term type of way. I hope he stops sitting on sidewalks and crying. But the universe here is in a semi-immutable state, so it probably won't happen again.

Run away Audrey, fast

Brady's job will always come first. If he is that neglectful so early in their relationship, then they have no chance. There will always be a buddy to help, a kitten to save, always some excuse. And that's not to mention the fact that her life will always be in danger. If that guy that shot Brady knew Audrey was his girlfriend, she would be dead now. What happens when the next guy looking for revenge realizes that she is with Brady? The least Mr. Self Absorbed could have done, was to tell Audrey what he does for a living, so that she could watch out for herself.

Romantic? No. Run girl. Run far away.

Why is it always ‘A thousand times yes’ does saying yes a thousand times make the acceptance more real? No one has ever been able to explain that little conundrum to my satisfaction. Just sayin.

Aussie1951Aussie1951over 1 year ago

I think both had problems and were at fault. How ironic all these problems fell on her special events etc etc which would piss off any woman left alone her.l also think that the comments made by woman whose husband was killed in Iraq brought her to a senses only to be magnified by seeing her man gundown thinking he was dead was the sealer, she realised just how much she loved him. Contrary to all the negative comments about her all she really did wrong was she didn’t give him a chance to hear him out and to be honest aren’t we all guilty of that sometimes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

He might be bad ass special forces but he sucks at relationships. It's called communication. It doesn't matter what he was doing when he wasn't around. It's great that he saved a girls life but he willingly although unintentionally inflicted emotional harm on someone he claims to love. He should have been straight with her from the start. Quite frankly, I don't think this is a happy ending. Brady is a moron.

LechemanLechemanabout 1 year ago

Loved the story, again!

AnonymousAnonymousabout 1 year ago

Well, you would think our MC would know the requirements and conditions of his job, so why would he make the promises he did? Unless he is a complete moron he'd have to be frank with Audrey in that his line of working would make it inevitable to be abailable 24/7 in case of an emergency.

Nekomusume_DaisukiNekomusume_Daisuki11 months ago

@Anonymous from 1 month ago, @Angelrider, unless you're a combat vet, you'll have a hard time understanding how our brains work.

Need to know only, and things you just don't want to talk about...

I suspect Web_Spinner either has his own experience, or spoken to vets extensively to understand, because to me it is pretty believable!

You plan the best you can, and even for a certain level of unexpected, but you also don't want to jinx things by assuming you'll need those contingency plans, so you don't.

AnonymousAnonymous11 months ago

That was nice 👍.

AnonymousAnonymous11 months ago

Has anyone noticed that real life is pretty much a cliche most of the time.

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

Special forces, tough battle hardened vet, and sobbing like a baby on getting rejected by his girl? That just doesn't happen however much he may love her. And I agree with Anonymous 5 months ago. In all the months of their relationship, what stopped him from explaining to her the intricacies of his work, that it was a 24/7 job and his time did not always belong to him? Why the secrecy? After all he was only running a security agency, not the FBI or the CIA.

WolfOfTheWorldWolfOfTheWorld6 months ago

I'd have got the message by the second day. She would have never heard from me again.

AnonymousAnonymous6 months ago

Confused. Why wasn't she aware of the grave risks Brady took to protect his clients?

As someone who saw the elephant way too many times, only the ones I served with will ever know the absolute truth of what we experienced.

Even my great uncle who did his time in the uglyness of different side Asia even comes close to understanding.

Even today 20 years later images fllod my memory at times.

I don’t blame this gentleman one damn bit for not saying what he really does for the security company.

The Lady who spoke of loosening her partner in that absolute shit hole spoke wisely.

Five Stars.

And to the ones who try to judge the ones of us who were there…. Fuck off; your opinion isn’t worth shit. And don’t pi’s us off, you don’t know what may trigger us….

AnonymousAnonymous3 months ago

Good story but without communication they won’t survive. She has to be a priority in his life and from all of the forgotten holidays/dates obviously she isn’t. She’ll get tired of being second in his life LM

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

As happens to often on Literotica, people forgetting stories are fiction set in the author's imaginary world, try to pick a story apart instead of supporting and encouraging all the great free entertainment we get.

Thanks for great Romance, Web_Spinner.

P.S. The commentators point about communication?

What if the comment had been - that was a wonderful little story and it was a reminder that good communication is essential to a great husband/wife relationship. Praise the author and still make your point.

The Hoary Cleric

AnonymousAnonymousabout 1 month ago

Such a quick telling. This could have been epic with emotions and crippling angst. The author could have enriched the story with more details. As a reader I felt I was simply gliding over the high spots of the tale. 4 Stars for what might have been, and could be.
