it seems like too small a reason for her to not want to get involved- because her mother died and people you love die on you??? doesn't make much sense...if she had been hurt in the past by a guy who reminded her of Damien, that would make sense....

Some of of these lines sound like what Bruno Tonioli would use , were he a writer. It breaks up the rhythm of reading when I can't help shaking my head at how forced some of the lines sound/read on the page.
